#𝗢𝗻𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 이번 «The Interplay» 전시에서 서승원 화백은 선과 색, 빛과 그림자가 맞물리는 순간을 통해 조형 언어가 확장되는 과정을 탐구합니다. 시간과 공간, 감각과 인식이 교차하는 유기적인 구성은 작가가 오랜 시간 천착해온 ‘동시성(Simultaneity)’ 개념을 바탕으로 하며, 전시장에 공기처럼 펼쳐진 작품들은 서로 반응하며 감각의 흐름과 시각적 리듬을 만들어냅니다. 2021년 PKM 갤러리 개인전 이후 4년 만에 열리는 이번 전시는, 2020년대에 제작된 회화 20여 점을 통해 서 화백의 최근 미학적 성과와 조형적 탐구를 집중적으로 조명합니다. In «The Interplay», Suh Seung-Won delves into the expansion of his visual language through moments where lines, colors, light, and shadow intersect. This organic structure—where time and space, sensation and perception overlap—is rooted in the artist’s long-standing inquiry into Simultaneity. The works, arranged like air throughout the gallery, respond to one another, generating flows of sensory movement and visual rhythm. 경기도미술관에서 경기아트프로젝트의 일환으로 진행 중인 《한국현대목판화 70년: 판版을 뒤집다》는 1950년대부터 오늘날까지 70여 년에 걸친 한국현대목판화의 흐름을 조망하는 대규모 기획전입니다. 경기도를 거점으로 활동해온 작가를 비롯해, 전국 각지에서 활동 중인 대표 작가 67인의 작품 300여 점이 한자리에 모였습니다. 이번 전시에서는 PKM 갤러리에서 6월 초부터 개인전 예정인 서승원 화백의 주요 목판화 작품도 소개됩니다. 그는 1960년대 이후 서구 현대미술의 흐름을 능동적으로 수용하며, 절제된 구성과 색면의 조화를 통해 독자적인 조형 언어를 구축해왔습니다. 서 화백의 작업은 한국 목판화가 모더니즘 미학과 접점을 이루는 대표적인 사례로 평가되며, 목판이라는 전통 매체가 현대미술의 조형 언어로 확장될 수 있음을 보여줍니다. 서승원 화백의 작품이 자리한 이번 전시는, 한국현대목판화가 시대의 변화에 따라 어떻게 내용과 형식을 자율적으로 확장해왔는지를 보여주는 중요한 계기가 될 것입니다. 전시는 2025년 6월 29일까지. As part of the Gyeonggi Art Project, the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art presents 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘒𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘞𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴 70’𝘴: 𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘮, a large-scale exhibition tracing 70 years of Korean modern woodprint since the 1950s. 모란미술관에서 진행 중인 그룹전 《사물로부터》는 조각의 새로운 언어를 탐색하는 장으로, 정현을 포함한 여섯 작가의 다양한 재료와 형식의 조각 및 설치 작업을 선보입니다. 정현은 이번 전시에서 여수 앞바다에서 수집한 손바닥 크기의 조약돌을 3D 기술로 거대하게 확대한 신작을 선보입니다. 시각적으로는 무게감을 지닌 조각처럼 보이지만, 재료는 가볍고 인공적인 스티로폼으로, 관객의 인식과 감각 사이에 긴장감을 불러일으킵니다. 작가는 원래 존재하던 장소를 떠나 낯선 환경에 놓인 이 조각들을 통해, 사물이 지닌 다른 가능성과 새로운 의미 생성의 지점을 제시합니다. 또한 백련사 마당에 설치된 <서 있는 사람들>은 정현의 대표 연작으로, 나무라는 재료의 물성과 시간성을 고스란히 살린 인체 조각입니다. 거칠게 깎인 표면과 절제된 형태, 뿌리 내린 듯한 자세는 시대를 관통하는 인간 존재의 보편성과 내면의 무게를 상징합니다. 이 작품은 조각이 감각을 넘어 인간의 존엄과 시간, 기억의 층위를 품을 수 있음을 보여줍니다. 이번 전시는 미술관의 실내 공간과 야외 마당, 그리고 옛 백련사 한옥까지 이어지는 입체적인 공간을 배경으로, 조각, 설치, 오브제 등 다양한 매체의 작업을 통해 사물과 인간이 교차하는 지점에서 새로운 감각과 관계의 지형을 구성합니다. 관람객은 이를 통해 사물의 존재론적 의미를 다시 사유하는 계기를 마주할 수 있습니다. 전시는 6월 29일까지. The group exhibition 𝘉𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, currently on view at Moran Museum of Art, explores new sculptural languages through the works of six artists, including Chung Hyun. Chung Hyun presents new sculptures based on palm-sized pebbles he collected along the Yeosu shoreline. Using 3D scanning, the stones are magnified into large-scale forms made of lightweight Styrofoam, creating tension between appearance and material. By relocating these objects to unfamiliar surroundings, the artist invites reflection on the evolving meanings of things. Installed in the courtyard of the former Baengnyeonsa Temple, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘯—a signature series by Chung Hyun—is sculpted from wood, retaining the raw material’s texture and timeworn presence. With rough surfaces, grounded postures, and restrained forms, these human figures speak to the weight and dignity of existence. Spanning the museum’s indoor and outdoor spaces and the hanok buildings of Baengnyeonsa, By Way of Things presents sculptures, installations, and objects in various media. Commemorating the fifth anniversary of both the museum’s founding and sculptor Choi Man Lin’s passing, the show highlights the artistic ties and shared legacy of five sculptors who shaped a generation. Kwon Jin Kyu, who studied sculpture in Japan and returned to Korea in 1959, focused on figurative works in terracotta and stone. His Seated Woman (1960s) reflects a refined formal language and sensitive portrayal of human introspection. The exhibition explores Kwon’s creative exchanges with Kim Chong Yung, Choi Man Lin, Park Byung Wook, and Song Young Soo—artists who lived and worked in the Seongbuk area. 홍영인의 국내 첫 미술관 개인전 《다섯 극과 모놀로그》가 오늘 아트선재센터에서 막을 올립니다. 이번 전시는 2024년 스파이크 아일랜드에서 선보인 《Five Acts》의 연장선으로, 역사 속 여성들의 서사를 중심으로 한 다섯 번의 즉흥 퍼포먼스와, 두루미의 목소리를 통해 인간과 비인간의 경계를 탐색하는 사운드 설치 신작 ‹우연한 낙원›을 통해 여성 노동과 동물의 움직임을 감각적으로 호출합니다. 작가는 역사 속에서 주변화되었던 여성들의 이야기를 태피스트리, 조각, 퍼포먼스를 통해 풀어냅니다. 억눌린 기억과 존재를 소환하는 제의적 공간은 관객이 소리와 몸짓, 리듬을 통해 직관적으로 새로운 서사를 마주하게 합니다. 인간과 비인간, 과거와 현재, 억압과 놀이의 경계를 넘나드는 이번 전시는 선형적인 역사 서술을 벗어나 감각적이고 수평적인 경험의 장을 제시합니다. 오는 8월에는 PKM 갤러리에서 홍영인의 개인전이 이어지며, 처음 공개되는 신작들을 중심으로 또 다른 서사적 탐색을 펼칠 예정입니다. 아트선재센터에서의 전시는 7월 20일까지 진행됩니다. Young In Hong’s first solo museum exhibition in Korea, 𝘍𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘴 & 𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘶𝘦, opens today at Art Sonje Center. As a continuation of her 2024 exhibition Five Acts at Spike Island, this show brings together five improvised performances based on the lives of women historically pushed to the margins, and a new sound installation, Accidental Paradise, which explores the boundary between the human and the non-human through the voice of a crane. The artist reconstructs the erased presence of laboring women and animals in a ritualistic space using tapestry, sculpture, and performance. Within this setting, suppressed memories are sensorially reactivated, inviting the audience to encounter new narratives through sound, gesture, and rhythm. Rejecting linear and hierarchical history, the exhibition proposes a horizontal experience where the past and present, oppression and play, human and non-human coexist. Her next solo exhibition will open this August at PKM Gallery, presenting newly unveiled works that continue this trajectory.
