Don’t ever loose confidence in yourself. Turn your back on that right now!!! You hear me? I mean it. There are so many reasons Why we might. I have found of late that I flounder a little on a lot of levels. I have experienced fears about travelling….even small distances. I have travelled far and wide and mostly alone my whole life. So what is this all about I ask myself. I have proven to myself that I am an independant woman capable of confronting the challenges of life with courage and conviction that every Little thing’s gonna be alright. Yes, just like those words in the song. I will be 77 this next month, and now is not the time to be messing around with my State of mind!!! Me or anyone else. So, No matter How messed up a lot of Things are right now….in the World….with so many Heartbreaking happenings….. Believe in the day and the day after. Keep moving. Keep loving. Be kind and not just Nice for Niceness’ sake. Keep the Faith and keep your own personal confidence in tact. Stare those doubts in the face. With a knowing smile. We got this, Girls. Don’t let anyone tell you Otherwise!!! That is what I told my own doubting self this week. I believe it. I just needed to remind myself. No time to waste on Little self confidence. The Saga of a Girl and Her Bandanna….. I actually had the owner of another Parisian brand send me a message stating she was not happy because (according to her), I was copying her idea of bandannas. Thing is…..I explained…..I grew up in Texas. Hence bandannas came Early on in my life. It’s not because you just decided they were cool this season that you are being copied. Girl, have you never seen John Wayne rock a bandanna? Send him a message. ‘Nuff sed as we say out West…..Now let’s just all be kind to one another. Fashion people can get so snooty sometimes. However, DO NOT try to come between me and my bandanna. It’s my roots, Girl. I love this one!!! It kind of replaces a Little jacket. Lots of info in these photos. Granted. Common denominator? Blue Marine. I love Blue marine. You might say it is my go to color for Spring and Summer. These days the girls and I invaribly show up in one version or another of our fave pieces from @crimson_cashmere Spring collection. 1) I am wearing our new marinière in Navy. First time I have done the navy…..Those of you who know it, have already opted for certain of the other colors over these past years. It is a collectors item from @crimson_cashmere 2) My Daughter, Tatiana, took hers on vacation last week. She teamed it with our new silk Jean from @pierrelouismascia. The Jean might be sold out in your size but they will be back in stock soon @crimson_cashmere . 3) Edit is wearing our new knitted Paris sweat-shirt. It also comes in White with black letters. 4) All Three Crimson girls are wearing one of my favorite Silk print pants from @pierrelouismascia that is available only @crimson_cashmere. It is a must for me in the Summer. I throw it on with a White tee or White poplin shirt usually…..Great with a Grey tee shirt and navy blazer as well. A uniform Summer piece for me. P.S. I love wearing it on the beach with barefeet as well. Just sayin’!!! 5) Rindra is wearing hers with our Silver Grey crewneck and navy Cotton voile bandanna. Do you ever just randomly decide to give yourself a YES day? I first heard about this from my grandson. He was suggesting the idea to his Mom aka my daughter @indiaweber. I think he was suggesting that she say YES to anything he wanted to do that particular day. Somehow that mood caught up to me today, and it turned out to be the best day ever!!! First of all…..I decided to stop giving myself a hard time. You know….. when you are allowing thoughts to creep into your head about How you could have done that better? Upon putting my first foot on the floor this morning, I had an enlightenment. It was like I decided to give myself grace for the day. I lightened up my attitude and decided to smile at myself and just relax about what I could have done better yesterday. After all, cannot compare what never happened!!! I could get used to this Yes day thing. Made me feel a 1000 pounds lighter. So come with me to @cyril_lignac and let’s buy some of his Fabulous pastries……Another yes on my list today. I knew when I spotted this pant chez @bode in Paris that it was calling my name. Apparently the fabric has been revised from a vintage textile resulting in a pure cotton track pant that had me smiling from the moment I tried it on. And yes, it was in the men’s collection but once again who cares. It has such a nice drape minus any stretch or lycra as we have become accustomed to seeing in active wear these days. I saw myself wearing this on a beach in the South of France. Obviously I would pair it with a classic white shirt or simple white tee. Yet, here I am on a spring day in Paris wearing it with a white cashmere rollneck from my shop @crimson_cashmere. This also is from the men’s collection!!! I took the medium. Just purchased this book to read. I thought the title was a gentle reminder on How we each have the power to make someone else’s day a Little brighter. Comfort Clothing….You surely have those articles of clothing that reassure you just like a good old friend. These are some of mine, and today was the day I needed them. Comfort clothing is like Comfort food. It brings you home to where your heart is. This is my favorite keepsake bag from @llbean. Their iconic boat ‘n tote who flew across the Atlantic Ocean with me when I moved to Paris forty six years ago. Nope….a vintage Kelly it is not, but I find it just as chic. This pair of old Levis is tattered and torn from personal wear and feels like warm butter when worn. My @gucci chocolate suede loafers were purchased about 15 years ago on a work trip to Florence. I love the Old Gucci style band in Red and Green with the Gold horse bit chain across the front. The rest is current comfort clothing from my shop @crimson_cashmere. I love an Old School v-neck cardigan. This one I stole from my men’s collection, because I needed a Red. They are also present in the ladies collection but not in Red this Season. What was I thinking!!! Or not thinking is the answer. I don’t usually boast, but I must when it comes to our Classic White Shirt for us ladies. Cotton poplin is sourced in Switzerland and they are made in France. We are back to doing your personal initials as well!!! My raincoat is from @45r_paris. This morning I took a risk. I knew what the outcome would be. I interfered. There was a situation where I thought someone’s joking was demeaning the other person. I could have been wrong. I knew I would be in trouble. However, after the other person left, I mentioned that it might have been hurtful. As predicted I was highly reprimanded. There were words exchanged. I expressed my feelings Even though I knew I was creating a situation I could have avoided. I was taking up for one person while hurting another. Uncomfortable moment. Not easy deciding when it is best to just observe and to keep one’s own Personal feelings intact. I have no rule of thumb. I must still try to learn when my Personal sensitivities are unjust for the others. Sometimes interferring when not needed!!! Maybe Even showing ego at a wrong moment. Dunno. Confusing, no? Washing one’s cashmere is essential to its longevity. It is literally the last step in the production line for my cashmere collections before being sent to my shop @crimson_cashmere in Paris from Scotland. Personally, I wear my sweaters only two or three times before throwing it in the machine to wash it again. I put my machine on a delicate wool cycle with a low spin…..I always use a mild liquid detergent. No Machine Drying!!! Lay it flat and keep away from heat. This is what works best for me. It fluffs those natural fibers to life again. Dry cleaning chemicals are the worst in my humble opinion. Please know that moths love to eat a less than clean sweater. So Why indulge them? End of cleaning lesson. Are you FOMO (fear of Missing out) or ROMO(relief of Missing out)? I have learned that once you are over the Fear of anything, Relief is staring you in the face. Not always easy to conquer your fears, right? I have also learned that fears change with age. There are whole new sets that pop up, right? So many things could be said, but I just try to not be complacent with fears that fence me in. I push….I give myself the Green Light to get out of those confort zones that I have built up all by myself. And I have a few. Fear build walls and borders. Who needs that!!! Girls, Girls, Girls!!! I have a lot of catching up to do. Yes, so many interesting comments on my last post when asking what feminity means to you. I will need a couple of days to get through them, but I wanted to thank you all for jump starting a great conversation. In the end…..Both feminine and masculine traits define me. I feel comfortable with that. It has Nothing to do with sexuality. Just the way I dress. I love my cow-boy boots, sneakers……a sweet ballerina shoe and Even a demeure kitten heel. I have been looking for the latter in the last few days. Don’t be shocked as I have not found them yet. Just having fun looking for the moment. Dont fence me in as we say in Texas!!! I have a question for you….. What is femininity for you? Someone mentioned this last week in a comment that my dress was rather masculine and suggested that I embrace my feminity. The way I dress is not exactly « breaking news », because I do champion a style of masculine-feminine. Always have. I remember the summer I turned fourteen. My favorite outfit worn endlessly was a boy’s madras pink and blue plaid short paired consistently with a short sleeve blue cotton piquet polo. I felt so cool and confident that Summer. I remember having my first flirt with a boy that Summer. So I obviously was doing what girls like to do at that age. Testing my feminine skills. His name was Rex. He worn Wrangler jeans and a White Fruit of the Loom tee shirt all summer. West Texas attire mind you. I was smitten. We never even kissed. I was too shy and awkward and he soon found interest in another « more fun » girl who lived a few streets over. I remember my brother who was twelve at the time broke the news to me. A very short lived « First Love » story. My brother continued to play baseball with him though. Funny How I still remember Rex and that Summer and my madras plaid shorts. Anyway…..Back to today….some sixty years later. I still love dressing in clothes that are absolutely unisex, but does that make me unfeminine? I think not. I am as feminine as the next……So what does the word Femininity signify really? Oh Yea….I Googled it!!! I am now more confused than ever. It has more to do with emotions than dress it would appear to me. In fact…..I never considered the fact that I might come off as masculine. Afterall, I love lace underwear as well?
